Lightning or USB-C: here's the difference
Apple released the AirPods Pro 2 in two versions: first with a Lightning charging case (2022), then with a USB-C charging case (2023). It's not just about the charging port — the earbuds and the case must be the same connector version:

So when you order a single earbud or case, choose the version of your current set. Look at the port on the bottom of your case: a narrow oval port is Lightning, a wider rounded port is USB-C. If you only have the earbuds left, check the model number on the stem with our model number guide.

Does a USB-C earbud work in a Lightning case (or vice versa)?
No. The Lightning and USB-C versions of the AirPods Pro 2 are not interchangeable: Lightning earbuds only pair with the Lightning case and USB-C earbuds only with the USB-C case. So before you order, check which version you have and select the matching variant on the product page.
How do I tell whether I have the Lightning or USB-C version?
Look at the charging port on the bottom of your case: a narrow oval port is Lightning (2022 version), a wider rounded port is USB-C (2023 version). If you no longer have a case, look at the model number printed in small letters on the stem of your earbud and look it up in our model number guide on the blog.
How much does a single AirPods Pro 2 part cost?
Single left and right earbuds cost the same for both versions: from €71.80 in Budget condition up to €108.95 in Like New. A single charging case (Lightning or USB-C) starts at €73.80 and costs €113.95 in Like New. Every grade is tested for sound, noise cancellation, pairing and charging.
Do all Pro 2 features keep working with a replacement part?
Yes. A single earbud or case of the correct version takes over all features: active noise cancellation, transparency mode and Adaptive Audio work just as before once you re-pair. Place the earbuds in the case, close the lid for a moment and reconnect the set to your iPhone.
